October 24th – 31st | Barcelona, Spain
The 2025 O’pen Skiff European Championships have officially started in Barcelona, hosted jointly by Reial Club Marítim Barcelona, Real Club Nàutic Barcelona, and the Federació Catalana de Vela.
A total of 173 young sailors from 10 nations — Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Poland, Ukraine and USA – have gathered in the heart of the Catalan capital for a week of exciting racing and international friendship.
Racing kicked off today with an early start, as light winds were forecasted for the morning. Three races were completed for all fleets before the breeze faded, with all sailors back ashore before 13:00.
In the U13 division, Côme Zunquin from France takes the early lead after three races, while in the U17 division, Carlos Mancabelli from Italy tops the leaderboard. With such a strong turnout, the U17 fleet has been divided into two groups for the qualifying series, ensuring close and fair racing.
Another light wind day is expected tomorrow, and the Race Committee has once again scheduled an early start at 09:00 in the hope of catching the best morning conditions.
